Video Transcript:

Hello, traders! Welcome to the NinjaTrader tutorial and the third module, SuperDOM overview. In this lesson, I’m going to teach you about quick order submission and how to use the quick buttons on the SuperDOM.

Quick Buttons SuperDOM

Allowing Quick Buttons

Quick buttons are located at the bottom of the ladder and you can enable them by right clicking on the SuperDOM, going to Properties and then going to Show Quick Buttons and click on True. Then, you click on OK and you can see that you will get the Ask, Bid, and Market buttons at the bottom of the ladder.

Now that you have the quick buttons, you can place orders by clicking on them. If you want to buy at market, you just click on Buy Market and you will buy two contracts, in this case, at the market price. If you want to sell two contracts, or, let’s say, three contracts at market, you click on Market and you will have sold three contracts of crude oil at the current market price.

Quick buttons

The Ask and the Bid buttons from both the Buy and the Sell columns are to place orders at the bid and at the ask. For example, in previous lessons, I told you that the blue price is the bid price and the green price is the ask price. If you want to place a buy order at the ask price, you click on ask, and the order will be pending until price moves up a tick. If you want to place a buy order at the bid, you will do the same. You click on the Bid button and you will be filled once the price comes down to the bid price where your order was placed.

The same goes for the sell side of the market. If you want to place a sell order at the ask, you click here and your order will be filled when price hits that price or the ask price where your order was placed. If you want to place a sell order at the bid, you do the same and your order will be filled when price hits that or when market hits that price. This is how you use the quick buttons on the DOM and how you can place orders using them.
